Sara Lyn Phillips

Sara Phillips trained first as a professional downhill ski racer in Aspen, Colorado, and subsequently as an acrobat and trapeze artist at the Ecole de Cirque de Paris.  In addition to being certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), she also has training in Yoga, Alexander technique, and Pilates, and MELT.  Specializing in alignment and stretch work, Sara’s approach to fitness is eclectic and holistic, with an emphasis on strengthening and lengthening postural muscles.  She integrates the emotional and physical components of exercise while helping people achieve their fitness goals.

Sara specializes in rehabilitation and helping people recover from chronic back pain, sports related injuries, as well as pre- and post-natal training (AAAI).  She has worked as a personal trainer for several physical therapists and chiropractors in the New York City area.  She has also been personal trainer for many of the staff members at the New York Sports Club (including Vice President of Fitness, Ed Trainer).  Sara consults regularly with physicians at the Sports Medicine Clinic of Beth Israel, West Side Sports Physical Therapy, and I.C.E. Physical Therapy at the Reebok Sports Club, New York. (Sara speaks French, Italian, some Swedish, and ASL.)
